Our verdict

The MG HS PHEV 2026 (2nd generation, launched 2024) is SAIC's plug-in hybrid C-SUV. In Morocco, Auto Hall MG offers the HS Plug-in Hybrid+ drivetrain: 1.5 turbo + electric motor + 21.4 kWh battery + 6-speed automatic, 271 hp combined and ~75 km EV WLTP range. Three trims: Comfort, Luxury, Trophy. The HS PHEV takes on the Hyundai Tucson PHEV (~339k+ MAD), the Ford Kuga PHEV (~339k+, 14.4 kWh battery only), the Peugeot 3008 mild-hybrid (~339k+, not a true PHEV), and the Toyota RAV4 PHEV (~599k+, much pricier but more premium). The HS PHEV stands out for: 21.4 kWh battery, the largest in the PHEV class in Morocco (vs 13.8 Tucson PHEV, 14.4 Kuga PHEV) — ~75 km EV range benefits from a wide reserve to absorb the drop in hot climate, 289k MAD entry price = 50k MAD cheaper than a Tucson PHEV or Kuga PHEV with a bigger battery, 8-year / 160,000 km high-voltage battery warranty (the longest in segment in Morocco), very generous standard equipment (12.3" portrait screen, 6-way electric leather seats, panoramic roof on Trophy). Weaknesses: assembly quality and trim still below European and Korean rivals, 5+ year resale unknown, max charging 6.6 kW AC only (vs 11 kW Tucson) — full 21.4 kWh charge = ~3h30 on a 7 kW home wallbox. MA target: household with home charger seeking PHEV at the best price, liberal profession concerned with reduced TVM vignette, driver determined to move to PHEV without hitting 350k MAD.

How we calculate

The most accurate used-car estimator in Morocco. Our prices are calibrated on the real Moroccan market: official dealer prices, resale ranges observed on the leading second-hand platforms, brand-by-brand resilience (Toyota, Renault and Dacia hold their value better; German premium drops faster after year 4; Chinese newcomers depreciate faster), a progressive mileage penalty and segment-level variance. Methodology continuously updated.

Frequently asked

How much does the MG HS PHEV cost in Morocco in 2026?
HS PHEV Comfort starts at 289,000 MAD, Luxury at 309,000, Trophy at 339,000. Auto Hall MG 2026 prices, excluding options and registration. The HS Plug-in Hybrid+ includes 8 years of high-voltage battery warranty.
MG HS PHEV or Hyundai Tucson PHEV — which to pick?
The Tucson PHEV (~339k+ MAD) is more modern stylistically (hidden lighting signature), denser Hyundai Maroc/Global Engines network (~25 points), ~58% resale at 3 years (established). The HS PHEV (289k+) is 50k MAD cheaper for a 35% larger battery (21.4 vs 13.8 kWh), 2 years longer battery warranty (8 vs 6 years), more generous equipment (12.3" vs 10.25" screen). Verdict: Tucson PHEV if you value resale, mature service and design; HS PHEV if you value price, battery and tech.
75 km EV range — is that true in real Moroccan use?
In real Moroccan cycle (35 °C, AC, Casablanca urban + traffic mix), our estimate: 55-65 km EV range (vs 75 km WLTP). In gentle urban cycle at 25 °C: 70-75 km reachable. 6.6 kW home charging: 0-100% in ~3h30 (7 kW wallbox). On a 2.3 kW domestic socket: 9-10h. DC charging 60 kW (Auto Hall MG includes a DC cable): 30-80% in 35 min.
Is MG HS PHEV resale a problem in Morocco?
This is the main uncertainty. No MG hybrid has 5 years of MA market history (the brand started in late 2022 in the Kingdom), so 5-year resale isn't measurable. The first HS Hybrid+ sold in 2024 are showing ~50-55% at 2 years on Avito listings (vs 70% for the Tucson at 2 years). With a 50k cheaper new price, the absolute loss at resale remains comparable. For early adopters, the trade-off: immediate saving vs long-term uncertainty.
