A new €50 fuel assistance program is now available for French drivers meeting specific requirements. The scheme was activated on May 27, 2026, on the impots.gouv website and aims to support workers most affected by rising fuel prices.
Who Qualifies?
To be eligible, you must meet all of the following conditions:
- Use your vehicle for professional purposes (including commuting)
- Travel more than 15 km per commute, OR more than 8,000 km annually for work
- Be a resident and fiscally domiciled in France (mainland, Mayotte, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, or Réunion) in 2024
- Be at least 16 years old on December 31, 2024
- Have declared income from employment in 2024
- Not be liable for property wealth tax (IFI) in 2024
Income Threshold
Your tax reference income per share must not exceed €16,880. In practical terms:
- Couple with one child: maximum €3,771
- Couple with two children: maximum €4,525
A negative answer to any of these conditions (or positive for property wealth tax) disqualifies you.
How to Apply
The process is straightforward and entirely online:
1. Visit the dedicated page on impots.gouv
2. Complete the eligibility questionnaire
3. If you meet all criteria, validate your application via the provided link
4. The €50 is deposited into your bank account within 10 days
Key point: you can submit this request only once per vehicle, per person.

This form remains available for two months. According to the French government, over 200,000 people had already accessed the online simulator within days of its launch. The scheme is based on a declaration of honor, but audits may be conducted to detect potential fraud.
