Our verdict

The Haval Dargo — marketed as "Big Dog" on its home Chinese market — is the brand's boldest stylistic bet and one of the most atypical SUVs in the Moroccan 2026 catalog. Where the H6 aims to frontally contest the Tucson / Tiguan segment with volume and content, the Dargo plays a niche card: the retro-rugged look, sitting between the Ford Bronco Sport (absent in Morocco), Jeep Renegade Trailhawk and a large-format Suzuki Jimny. It's the only mid-size SUV in Morocco to embrace this boxy, laid-back aesthetic: black plastic wheel arches, full-width vertical-bar grille in the style of US 4x4s, standard spare wheel on the tailgate on Adventure versions, square door handles, outdoor-design 18" alloys.

C-SUV segment dimensions but with a genuinely tall road presence: 4.62 m long, 1.89 m wide, 1.78 m tall (10 cm taller than an H6), ground clearance above 20 cm, 2.73 m wheelbase. The chassis is nonetheless a monocoque (not body-on-frame like the H9), with MacPherson front and multi-link rear suspension. The driving position is notably higher than an H6 or Tucson — close to a Jeep Renegade — with welcome panoramic visibility in urban or trail driving.

The interior picks up Haval's philosophy: 12.3" digital cluster + 12.3" central screen running Coffee Intelligence 2.0, crystal-style gear selector, contrasting two-tone synthetic upholstery on the Adventure trim (orange or olive-green accents depending on availability), brushed-aluminium-look inserts on the dashboard, foamed surfaces, multi-colour ambient lighting. The digital cluster offers an "Off-Road" mode that displays lateral tilt, roll angle, differential temperatures and terrain-mode selection (normal roads, sand, mud, snow, mountain, expert) on AWD versions.

A single powertrain in the SODICOM 2026 catalog: the 2.0 GDIT turbo petrol of 204 hp and 320 Nm, paired with a 9DCT wet dual-clutch gearbox developed by Haval — one of the rare 9-speed boxes in the segment. No hybrid version in the Moroccan catalog for now (unlike China, where a 326 hp Dargo Hi4 hybrid exists), no diesel version. WLTP combined consumption: 8.4 L / 100 km in front-wheel drive, 8.9 L / 100 km in AWD. That's more than an H6 (7.6 L) but consistent with the higher power and taller body. Two transmission configurations: the entry Adventure trim is front-wheel drive (2WD), the Adventure AWD trim adds intelligent-on-demand all-wheel drive (BorgWarner electromagnetic coupling) with 6 selectable terrain modes. Useful for tackling a gentle Moroccan trail in the Rif, the Atlas or towards Merzouga, without the pretensions of a genuine body-on-frame 4x4 like a Prado or an H9: the Dargo is a rugged-looking crossover in appearance, not a hardcore off-roader.

SODICOM's range is limited to two trims at Moroccan launch. Dargo Adventure 2WD (~339,000 MAD) includes the dual 12.3" screens, two-tone synthetic upholstery, dual-zone auto A/C, 360° camera, keyless entry and start, electric tailgate, adaptive cruise, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, active blind-spot alert, 6 airbags, 18" alloys, full-size spare wheel on the tailgate. Dargo Adventure AWD (~409,000 MAD) adds intelligent AWD with 6 terrain modes, reinforced underbody protection, panoramic sunroof, premium two-tone Nappa-look synthetic upholstery, specific 19" alloys and the extended ADAS pack.

In the Moroccan segment, the Dargo sits in a narrow niche: its true stylistic rivals (Ford Bronco Sport, 5-door Suzuki Jimny) are not sold in Morocco in 2026. It rather faces the Jeep Compass (~429,000

  • 519,000 MAD, notably more expensive), the Suzuki Vitara AllGrip (~289,000
  • 349,000 MAD, smaller and less powerful), and — to a lesser extent — the Hyundai Tucson HTRAC or Kia Sportage AWD in 4x4 configurations. The VW Tiguan 4Motion (~500,000+ MAD) plays a price class above. The Dargo's bet is therefore to offer a distinctly different look from the H6 to a customer who might have considered a Compass but stalled on its price: the Dargo AWD at 409,000 MAD is 100,000 MAD cheaper than a Compass 4xe plug-in hybrid at roughly comparable equipment.

The accepted weaknesses: the retro-rugged style is not consensual — it's a product to test-drive before buying, not a rational choice like the H6. Consumption of 8.4-8.9 L / 100 km is higher than the segment average, with no hybrid version to soften it. Used-market value will likely be even weaker than an H6 (40-50 % depreciation at 3 years is realistic, given the short record and narrower demand), and the strong style may complicate resale to a buyer profile other than the "look-driven". Finally, the SODICOM network is still narrow — a Dargo AWD, more complex than an H6, needs to be serviced at a SODICOM point trained on AWD.

Our verdict: the 2026 Haval Dargo is a heart choice for buyers wanting a visually distinctive SUV, capable of tackling a moderate Moroccan trail (Ourika, Toubkal foothills, accessible Merzouga dunes) without buying a genuine 4x4, and who reject the stylistic conservatism of a Tucson or Compass. The AWD configuration at 409,000 MAD is what justifies the model's existence — the 2WD at 339,000 MAD is interesting but partially overlaps with a better-motorised hybrid H6 Elite. To reserve for buyers who cover 3,000 to 5,000 km off-tarmac per year, or those who put aesthetics first — for everyone else, the H6 HEV Elite at 419,000 MAD remains a more rational choice.

Morocco price benchmark

What's your used Haval Dargo worth?

Median and indicative range by year and mileage. Open methodology, refreshed continuously.

How we calculate

The most accurate used-car estimator in Morocco. Every estimate blends three signals: (1) official new-car prices published by Moroccan importers (source: our verified model fiches), (2) real listings posted by actual private and professional sellers across the main Moroccan used-car marketplaces for the same brand + model + year (±2 years), and (3) brand-specific depreciation curves calibrated on the Moroccan market (Toyota, Renault and Dacia hold value better; German premium drops faster after year 4; Chinese newcomers depreciate faster). We also apply a −5 to −10 % adjustment to convert asking-price into real transaction price (typical Moroccan negotiation margin). The calculation is regenerated on every new observation; models with at least 3 recent listings are flagged "Observed data" in the result. The (model, year, mileage) cache is refreshed every 30 days or when the new-car price shifts by more than 5 %.
