A new premium Chinese brand arrives
Zeekr, a premium marque from Geely (owner of Volvo and Lotus), is disrupting the European market with unambiguous ambitions. Unlike MG and BYD, Zeekr targets Audi, BMW and Mercedes from day one, leveraging Sino-Swedish design expertise. The group assigned styling to Gothenburg while refining dynamics and tuning on European roads.
The 7X is the brand's flagship statement. Measuring 4.79 metres, this all-electric SUV directly confronts the Audi Q6 e-tron, BMW iX3 and Mercedes GLC EQ. Starting at €52,990 (approximately 600,000 MAD), it courts buyers in Morocco and Europe with aggressive specification-to-price ratios.
Design: Competent but unremarkable
Visually, the 7X breaks no new ground. General lines borrow from German and Japanese playbooks without asserting a distinct identity. Several details salvage the overall impression: a gloss-black front grille that masks the headlights, discreet chrome trim, orange brake calipers and aggressively openwork wheels. Inside, genuine leather adorns the seats—uncommon for Chinese manufacturers.
Interior tech takes centre stage
The 7X reveals its ambitions once you're aboard. Doors lack traditional handles; instead, electric motors activated by buttons on the B and C pillars open them. A sensor network prevents accidental contact damage. Closing requires fiddly armrest buttons—except for the driver, who can trigger closure via the brake pedal.
This "tech showcase" belongs to the Comfort Pack (€1,900), which mandates the Advanced Cockpit Pack (€1,400) featuring head-up display and a 21-speaker sound system.
Remainder of the cabin feels more conventional, finished in uninspired black trim.
Ambitious all-electric lineup
Zeekr enters Europe with three 100% electric models: the 7X coupe-SUV, the compact X saloon, and the flagship 001 grand tourer. A GT variant—part shooting brake, part SUV, roughly Audi A5 Avant proportions—arrives in dealerships summer 2026.
Clear market positioning
Zeekr acknowledges most Chinese cars lack driving engagement. Making dynamic ability a core battleground is the brand's wager. For now, the 7X doesn't match German rivals' agility, but its technology stack and aggressive pricing form compelling arguments for conquest buyers.
