BYD Sealion 7 in Morocco 2026 — Prices, range, full specs

Why the Sealion 7 marks a quality leap

The BYD Sealion 7 (4.83 m long) reached Morocco end-2024 as the first BYD car built on the new e-Platform 3.0 — Atto 3, Dolphin and Han EV still ride on the prior platform. The difference is substantial: chassis ~25% stiffer, CTB (Cell-to-Body) battery pack integrated directly into the body shell (no longer suspended below the floor), centre of gravity lowered 9 mm, multi-link rear suspension (vs torsion beam on the Atto 3). Result on the road: noticeably more composed handling and a step up in motorway comfort — the Sealion 7 finally feels like a "grown-up" electric SUV rather than a reworked low-cost Chinese car.

The main electric motor delivers 230 hp on the Premium (RWD) version and 530 hp combined on the Long Range AWD (which adds a second motor on the front axle). 0-100 km/h: 6.7 s on Premium, 4.5 s on Long Range AWD. On the battery side, 82 kWh usable Blade LFP on the Long Range for 605 km of WLTP range — about 480-500 km real in Morocco. Battery warranted 8 years / 160,000 km by Auto Nejma on minimum 70% capacity.

Ultra-fast charging: 230 kW DC

The Sealion 7 leaps two charging generations vs the Atto 3: DC 230 kW maximum (vs 88 kW on the Atto 3) and AC 11 kW (same as Atto 3). Concretely, on a compatible 200+ kW ultra-fast charger (rare in Morocco in 2026 — only a few Total Énergies stations on the A1 Casa-Tanger reach this level), 10-80% takes 24 minutes. On a classic 50 kW charger (most of the Moroccan network), expect 50-55 minutes for the same 10-80%. On a home 11 kW Wallbox: 8 hours for a full 0-100% charge.

For long Moroccan trips, the Long Range's 605 km WLTP range changes the game: Casablanca-Marrakech (240 km) without any intermediate charge in summer, Casablanca-Tanger (340 km) without intermediate charge in relaxed mode, Casablanca-Agadir (520 km) with one fast mid-trip charge (~25 min on a 230 kW DC on the A7). It's currently the most motorway-comfortable Chinese EV SUV under 600,000 MAD in Morocco.

Morocco prices and equipment

Two trims at Auto Nejma. Sealion 7 Premium RWD (489,900 MAD): 230 hp, 482 km WLTP (71 kWh LFP battery), 0-100 km/h in 6.7 s. Equipment: black Nappa leather, heated/ventilated front seats, 15.6" rotating central screen (BYD signature, can switch between landscape and portrait), 10.25" digital cluster, head-up display (HUD), Dynaudio 12-speaker audio, fixed panoramic roof, 19" wheels, DiSus-C adaptive suspension.

Sealion 7 Long Range AWD (549,900 MAD): 530 hp combined, 605 km WLTP (82 kWh LFP battery), 0-100 km/h in 4.5 s, dual-motor all-wheel drive. Takes the Premium kit and adds: heated rear seats, front Brembo brakes, 20" wheels, bidirectional V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) AC charging — you can power external devices (drill, camping fridge) via integrated 220V outlets in the vehicle. Performance + range + V2L for 549,900 MAD remains without direct equivalent in Morocco in 2026.

Sealion 7 or Tiguan eHybrid — the final call

At 549,900 MAD, the Sealion 7 Long Range sits directly against the VW Tiguan eHybrid R-Line at 549,000 MAD (our dedicated article). Both play the same "premium 2026 C+ SUV" card but with radically different technical answers: Sealion 7 = 100% electric with long range, Tiguan eHybrid = PHEV with 105 km EV + unlimited thermal.

Pick the Sealion 7 if: you charge at home, your long trips (>300 km) are occasional (1-2/month), you value the lowest usage cost (25-30 MAD/100 km at ONEE) + 0 MAD vignette, and you appreciate performance (4.5 s 0-100). Pick the Tiguan eHybrid if: you charge at home but regularly take very long trips (>500 km) or visit areas without public charging (inland, southern rural zones), you value the German brand for resale (~65% at 3 years for Tiguan vs ~45% expected for Sealion 7, TBC), and you prefer a technologically simpler vehicle (no range anxiety).

Frequently asked

What's the price of the BYD Sealion 7 in Morocco in 2026?
489,900 MAD for the Premium RWD version (230 hp, 482 km WLTP) and 549,900 MAD for the Long Range AWD (530 hp combined, 605 km WLTP) at Auto Nejma. Both versions include the full premium pack (Nappa leather, 15.6" rotating screen, DiSus-C suspension, etc.). 0 MAD vignette (100% electric vehicles are exempt), insurance ~5,000-7,000 MAD/year by driver profile.
What's the real-world range of the Sealion 7 Long Range in Morocco?
WLTP rated: 605 km. Real Moroccan in mixed use (60% motorway at 110 km/h, 40% urban): 480-500 km in summer with AC running. Pure motorway at 130 km/h: 410-440 km. Pure urban Casa-Rabat use: 540-580 km. The Sealion 7 Long Range is currently the EV SUV under 600,000 MAD with the best real-world range in Morocco — Casablanca-Tanger (340 km) without intermediate charging is comfortable even in winter.
Sealion 7 or Atto 3 — which to pick?
The Atto 3 Comfort (339,000 MAD) stays 150,000 MAD cheaper than the Sealion 7 Premium (489,900 MAD), with 420 km WLTP (~340 km real) and a more practical compact C-SUV chassis for city use. The Sealion 7 Premium offers a more comfortable C+-SUV motorway chassis, 482 km WLTP (~400 km real), 230 kW DC charging (vs 88 kW Atto 3), and a step-up premium interior (Nappa leather, DiSus suspension, 15.6" screen). For pure urban + budget < 400k: Atto 3. For mixed urban + frequent motorway + budget > 500k: Sealion 7.
Is the BYD Sealion 7 reliable in Morocco?
The Sealion 7 reached Morocco end-2024 — less than 18 months of track record at the 2026 buying decision. Units sold over the last 12 months (~80-100 vehicles per Auto Nejma estimates) have reported no systemic defects. The underlying e-Platform 3.0 has been in production since 2022 in China on the BYD Seal and Sealion 5/6, with a positive technical history. The Blade LFP battery has been proven since 2020 on >2M BYD vehicles globally. Auto Nejma warranty: 6-year / 150,000 km vehicle + 8-year / 160,000 km battery.
Does the Sealion 7 have V2L mode in Morocco?
Yes, but only on the Long Range AWD version (549,900 MAD). V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) lets you use the vehicle battery to power external devices via integrated 220V outlets (3.3 kW available from the vehicle side). Useful for camping, power outages (Morocco occasionally experiences them in rural areas), or running a long-weekend picnic fridge. The Premium RWD version (489,900 MAD) has no V2L — an argument for stepping up to Long Range if you have the use case.
