Pros
- Unbeatable equipment-to-price ratio in the B-SUV segment
- Solid Auto Nejma distribution (Groupe Akwa) — secure after-sales and parts
- 5-year / 100,000 km warranty, on par with Hyundai and Kia
- 1.5 T-GDI engine co-developed with Volkswagen, comfortable CVT gearbox
Watch out for
- Weaker used-market value (55-60% at 3 years vs 65-70% for a Bayon)
- Local reliability track record still short (brand distributed in Morocco since 2023)
- Real-world consumption higher than an equivalent Bayon 1.0 T-GDI
Our verdict
The JAC JS3 is the brand's entry-level subcompact SUV in Morocco and its commercial volume core. Launched globally in 2019 and facelifted in 2024, it sits in the B-SUV segment (Morocco's most dynamic alongside C-SUV) and lines up against the Hyundai Bayon, Kia Stonic, Renault Kiger and Dacia Sandero Stepway. Its proposition: the equipment of a Korean mainstream brand at a price that brushes against a well-equipped city car, with the security of an Auto Nejma network already seasoned on Mercedes-Benz and MG.
At 4.35 m long, 1.77 m wide and 1.66 m tall, the JS3 sits in the mid-range of the segment — longer than a Bayon (4.18 m), roughly equal to a Kia Stonic (4.14 m; JAC has stretched it slightly) and just shorter than a Renault Kiger (4.32 m). The 2.56 m wheelbase frees up a boot rated at 410 L (1,250 L seats folded), decent for the class and edging out the Bayon's 411 L. The 2024 facelift design is frankly modern: new "Dragon Face" diamond-pattern grille, three-segment LED signature lighting, flush door handles optional, two-tone 17" alloys on the top trim. Inside, JAC has put in a real materials effort — soft-touch dashboard, 10.25" central portrait screen, 7" or 10.25" digital cluster depending on trim, mixed synthetic-leather upholstery standard on Comfort.
Under the hood, one choice: the 1.5 T-GDI turbocharged direct-injection 4-cylinder rated at 136 hp and 210 Nm, co-developed with Volkswagen under the JAC-VW Hefei partnership. Two transmissions in the MA catalog: 6-speed manual on the entry Look trim, CVT (continuously variable transmission) simulating 9 ratios on Comfort and Luxury. Front-wheel drive only (no 4x4 in this segment). Homologated WLTP combined consumption is 6.4 L / 100 km on the CVT — expect 7.5-8 L / 100 km in real-world Moroccan mixed use, slightly higher than a Bayon 1.0 T-GDI (6.3 L WLTP) because of higher weight (1,320 kg vs 1,235 kg for the Bayon).
The range spans three trims at Auto Nejma. Look (179,900 MAD) stays minimalist: manual A/C, 8" screen, 16" steel wheels, 4 airbags, ESP, basic cruise control. Comfort (209,900 MAD) — the volume seller — adds automatic A/C, the 10.25" screen with wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, reversing camera, 17" alloys, 6 airbags, and the basic JAC Sense pack (autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind-spot detection). Luxury (239,900 MAD) rounds it off with a sunroof, 10.25" digital cluster, brown synthetic-leather upholstery, assisted manual tailgate, 360° camera, extended ADAS (adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist), and keyless entry.
At this price point, direct competition is the Hyundai Bayon (from ~215,000 MAD, no CVT or standard ADAS pack), Kia Stonic (~205,000 MAD), Renault Kiger (~195,000 MAD, less refined naturally aspirated engine) and Dacia Sandero Stepway (~185,000 MAD, less equipped). The JAC proposition — 209,900 MAD Comfort with CVT + ADAS + 10.25" screen — is objectively unbeaten on equipment-to-price ratio. The real reservations to know about: used-market depreciation. A 3-year-old JS3 today resells at 55-60% of its new price, vs 65-70% for a Bayon or Stonic — a 15-20,000 MAD delta on 3-year resale that eats into part of the purchase saving. Second point: local reliability track record remains short (JAC has only been selling in volume in Morocco since 2023) — long-term data on the 1.5 T-GDI / CVT drivetrain in Moroccan climate (summer heat, dust) is not yet available.
Our verdict: the JS3 Comfort at 209,900 MAD is objectively the best-equipped B-SUV in the Moroccan market at that price, and the Auto Nejma network neutralises the main risk of isolated Chinese brands (after-sales, parts). Recommendation: consider it if you prioritise equipment and warranty at purchase, accepting a faster resale depreciation than a Korean rival. Avoid if you plan to resell at 3 years to re-buy new — the TCO maths doesn't favour you.

How we calculate
The most accurate used-car estimator in Morocco. Every estimate blends three signals: (1) official new-car prices published by Moroccan importers (source: our verified model fiches), (2) real listings posted by actual private and professional sellers across the main Moroccan used-car marketplaces for the same brand + model + year (±2 years), and (3) brand-specific depreciation curves calibrated on the Moroccan market (Toyota, Renault and Dacia hold value better; German premium drops faster after year 4; Chinese newcomers depreciate faster). We also apply a −5 to −10 % adjustment to convert asking-price into real transaction price (typical Moroccan negotiation margin). The calculation is regenerated on every new observation; models with at least 3 recent listings are flagged "Observed data" in the result. The (model, year, mileage) cache is refreshed every 30 days or when the new-car price shifts by more than 5 %.
