The essentials in 30 seconds
In case of loss, theft or destruction of your carte grise, you must obtain a duplicate from NARSA. The procedure requires a prior report at the police (loss or destruction) or gendarmerie (theft), followed by online filing on tasshilat.ma.
Cost: 200 to 300 MAD. Time: 7 to 15 days. During this period, the loss-report receipt serves as your provisional proof at road checks — keep it on you at all times.

- Original receipt of the loss/theft report from the police (or gendarmerie for theft). Validity: 30 days, scan it for the online filing.
- Owner's currently valid CIN.
- Recent proof of address (< 3 months).
- Currently valid contrôle technique report (< 6 months) if NARSA requests it.
Procedure steps

Report the loss or theft
Visit the nearest police station (loss or destruction of the card) or gendarmerie (theft). Describe the circumstances (approximate date, place, type of event) and the vehicle's registration number. You'll receive an official-paper receipt — this serves as your provisional proof during the procedure.

Connect to tasshilat.ma
On tasshilat.ma, select "Carte grise duplicate — loss / theft". Enter your registration number and chassis number (you can find them on your insurance certificate or old dealer invoice). Choose the reason (loss, theft, destruction) — the procedure varies slightly by reason.

Upload the documents
Scan the loss-report receipt (both sides if needed), your CIN, and proof of address. PDF or JPEG, sharp and legible scans. NARSA may verify the report with the police — any inconsistency triggers rejection.

Pay and wait
Payment by CMI bank card: 200 MAD for a standard duplicate, 300 MAD if express handling requested. You receive an email confirmation with a tracking number. Legal delay is 7-15 days, sometimes more for additional verification (theft especially).

Collect the duplicate
The duplicate arrives in two phases: PDF version by email upon validation (usable immediately), then the laminated card by registered mail within 7-15 days. The duplicate carries the "DUPLICATA" mark and a new issue date; all other information (registration, owner, technical data) matches the original card.
Don't forget
- Report the loss quickly. The police receipt has a 30-day validity for use as provisional proof and as part of the duplicate file. Beyond, you must redo the report.
- Keep the original receipt in your vehicle until receiving the duplicate. It's the only document protecting you at a road check during the procedure (mere absence of carte grise exposes you to a 700 MAD fine).
- Beware of paid intermediaries offering to "speed up" the procedure. The official tasshilat.ma procedure is largely sufficient; "facilitators" typically charge 500-1,500 MAD for a strictly free service.
