Volvo Cars (Gothenburg, 1927) is the inventor of the 3-point seatbelt (1959, patent opened to the world for free) and remains the automotive brand most associated with the safety concept. Acquired by Chinese group Geely in 2010, Volvo has since 2017 undertaken a full repositioning toward electrification and pared-down Scandinavian luxury. In Morocco, the brand is distributed by Scandinavia Auto / Volvo Car Maroc — local partner of the Geely group — through a still-limited but targeted network: 3 main dealerships (Casablanca Aïn Sebaâ flagship, Rabat Hay Riad, Tangier Free Zone) plus two authorised workshops in Marrakech and Agadir. The 2026 MA lineup spans six models, half of them electric: XC40 (B-SUV, mild-hybrid or Recharge PHEV), XC60 (C-SUV, mild-hybrid or Recharge PHEV), XC90 (D-SUV 7-seat PHEV or EV EX90), EX30 (compact B-SUV electric, the most accessible), C40 Recharge (coupé-SUV electric). Volvo announced in late 2024 the target of 100% electric in the MA lineup by 2028.
