BYD's Certified Used Program Arrives: 6-Year Warranty & Battery Health Test
BYD strengthens its Morocco footprint with a certified used-car program featuring mandatory battery screening and comprehensive manufacturer coverage.

With rising lease returns and growing second-hand markets, BYD is rolling out a strategic answer: the BYD Certified label for used vehicles.
This program reassures Moroccan buyers by guaranteeing vehicle reliability and, crucially, battery health—the decisive factor for electric car ownership confidence.
Strict certification criteria
To earn BYD Certified status, a vehicle must meet precise standards:
- Age : under 6 years
- Mileage : below 150,000 km
- Service history : complete maintenance with no major incidents
- Maintenance : exclusively at BYD network locations using original parts
- Inspection : 100-point check (electronics, cabin, chassis, lighting)
- Battery : minimum SOH (state of health) score of 90%
That last requirement is critical: it ensures the battery retains at least 90% of original capacity, guaranteeing longevity and performance.
Comprehensive warranty coverage
Certified vehicles receive standout protection:
- General warranty : 6 years or 150,000 km
- Battery : 8 years or 250,000 km (maximum coverage)
- Electric motor : 8 years or 150,000 km
- Connected services and European roadside assistance : 2 years
This package outperforms used-car market standards, especially for batteries—the costliest replacement component.
Network expansion across Morocco
BYD currently operates over 100 service centers, with plans to double that by end of 2026. In Morocco, this growth improves access to certification services and authorized repairs.
How competitors stack up
Tesla launched a similar "Occasion Certifiée" program with 100 control points and standard warranty (8 years, 160,000–240,000 km depending on model). However, Tesla does not publicly disclose battery SOH, leaving that verification to the buyer.
BYD's approach—transparent about this key metric—delivers extra peace of mind for Moroccan buyers evaluating electric secondhand vehicles.
