Stellantis has announced the opening of pre-orders for social leasing 2026, just hours after the French government unveiled the "Electric Plan 2026." A commercial offensive designed to capture the maximum share of the 100,000 contracts promised for the year.
Core Offerings
Stellantis will offer twelve electric models from its catalogue, with the Citroën ë-C3 at €94/month as its flagship. For comparison, the same model was available in 2025 at €95/month. Xavier Duchemin, director of Stellantis France, justifies this strategy by noting that "rising fuel prices considerably strain consumer budgets, and many customers are turning to our electric vehicle offerings."
The Made-in-Europe Advantage
This commercial agility is built on new government subsidy rules that now favour components manufactured in Europe. The more a vehicle is produced locally, the higher the state aid:
- €6,500 for an eco-scored vehicle
- €7,000 if the engine is European-made
- €9,000 if the battery is assembled in Europe
- €9,500 if both engine and battery are made in Europe
By manufacturing batteries (through its stake in ACC factory) and vehicles in Europe, Stellantis ensures it qualifies for maximum state aid, essential for minimizing public prices.
Beyond Social Leasing
Stellantis broadens its offensive with several complementary initiatives:
Contract Extension and Used Market: Concerned about the fate of 50,000 early 2024 leaseholders whose contracts are expiring, the group announces renewal or buyback solutions. Through Spoticar, it offers used electric vehicles from €99/month (Fiat 500 with €2,000 deposit), accompanied by a battery health certificate.
Targeted Offers: For healthcare workers and home-care aides, Stellantis provides 17% discount on the Peugeot e-208. Its subsidiary Free2move Charge offers up to 40% savings on home charging stations.
Structured Support
To streamline access to the scheme, Stellantis deploys a support infrastructure: a dedicated call centre opens today to guide individuals through government subsidy complexity and simplify administrative procedures.
By rapidly aligning with the political agenda, Stellantis aims to transform the ecological transition into predictable sales volume in an recovering European market.
