An Unexpected Success Story

The Citroën Ami has become an unexpected winner in the automotive sector over recent years, with over 100,000 units sold across France and multiple European markets. This small electric car, accessible to drivers aged 14 and up, has captured the hearts of those seeking affordable and eco-friendly urban mobility.

The range recently expanded with a Rip Curl edition, a limited collaboration with the famous Australian surfwear brand, capped at 1,600 units. The partnership traces back to 2016 with the C4 Cactus and has since extended to other models (C4 Picasso, C3 Aircross, Berlingo). The Rip Curl version stands out with a black body enhanced by exclusive coloured trim, a rear spoiler, and 14-inch white alloy wheels. Inside, three coloured storage boxes, matching floor mats, and various luxury features justify its €9,260 price tag (before state incentives), or €64 monthly over 35 months (first payment €1,000). It comes in two colourways: Sunrise (yellow) and Sunset.

The Ami Buggy: The Unbeatable Offer

But a more striking alternative exists: the Ami Buggy, stripped of convention. It swaps traditional doors for two metal panels and features an open roof—perfect for soaking up the sun while cruising at its 45 km/h top speed, with a 75 km range.

The Buggy is identifiable by its golden alloys and absence of standard doors. However, this bold design appears to struggle commercially. Citroën is therefore slashing its price dramatically: a €2,000 discount valid until 31 May. This reduction transforms the lease offer into something nearly unbeatable:

  • €39 per month over 36 months (15,000 km) — totalling just €1,404 over 3 years
  • With Ami Care service (extended warranty + maintenance): €52 monthly (€1,872 total over 3 years)

Important Considerations

It's worth noting that the Buggy's minimalist design makes it vulnerable to bad weather and limits use during rain or cold periods. The absence of conventional doors also requires covered parking (garage or carport). For those with such shelter at home or workplace, this Ami at pocket-friendly pricing delivers exceptional value. The open roof further benefits users by reducing the greenhouse effect created by the transparent roof of other Ami variants.
