Classic Italian sports cars possess a soul that computer-controlled modern vehicles struggle to emulate. When 1970s nostalgia meets restoration without budget constraints, the result approaches automotive perfection.
A Heart-and-Soul Engine
Legacy Motorworks has unveiled its latest creation: a completely restored 1973 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 representing 4000 hours of painstaking work. Under the bonnet sits a fully rebuilt 2.0-litre engine equipped with dual carburettors for optimal fuel delivery.
Reconstructing the engine block required complete replacement of all wear components: new pistons, rings, bearings, and precise polishing of camshafts with meticulous distributor tuning. This methodical approach guarantees optimal performance and unflinching reliability for modern driving demands.
This mechanical symphony breathes through a custom stainless-steel exhaust system with headers finished in elegant satin black. Power transfers via a fully overhauled five-speed gearbox with fresh bearings and seals, delivering silky smooth gear changes.
Chassis, Wheels, and Road Manners
The chassis adopts a slightly lowered stance via shortened springs, enhancing visual proportions while sharpening road behaviour. This aggressive setup shines through 14×7-inch alloy wheels in GTA style, widened by 10 mm spacers and shod with Continental 185/70R14 tyres.
Vibrant Aesthetics
Visually, this Alfa Romeo is a feast for the eyes. The bodywork wears a Giallo Planetario paint finish—that vibrant racing yellow practically radiating energy. This 1970s icon of colour imparts an unmissable presence on any road.
Every exterior trim piece received meticulous attention: bumpers, mouldings, and the iconic grille have been re-chromed to mirror-bright perfection. The headlights were modernised with high-performance LED units including daytime running lights, while the lower fascia retains period authenticity with yellow-lens fog lights true to the 1970s.
A Cabin of Italian Luxury
The interior rivals the finest bespoke upholstery examples. The cabin is entirely appointed in premium black leather accented by striking yellow piping on the seats and a racing stripe in yellow across the gear-lever gaiter—a perfect echo of the exterior finish.
This Alfa Romeo GTV exemplifies a successful restomod: honouring the original aesthetic essence while introducing the refinements necessary for modern-day enjoyment.
